Back in the year 2000 DVS Records has seen daylight. The idea behind the label was to give talented, original bands a chance in the though world of music. With realistic goals the first release came out in Oktober 2000, the debut album from Norwegian band Sonic Debris. The reactions where really positive, also after our second release, the self-titled debutCD by Canadian band Into Eternity. With our third release, "Field Of Names" from the German artork band Alias Eye, it was clear that DVS Records concentrates on quality releases, not quantity. It was also quite obvious that DVS Records is not too afraid to try something new, all first 3 releases were very different from each other, from progressive mainstream to progressive death metal to progressive artrock. But we did get a lot of compliments from the press for the originality of our bands, so we were very satisfied with the first year we were in business. With our 4th (Into Eternity - "Dead Or Dreaming") and 5th (Wolverine - "The Window Puprose") release we made the next step, a few new distribution deals and the first license deals were a fact! Again the press was very positive about our releases, the result is that both Into Eternity and Wolverine signed to a bigger label for their next albums. Into Eternity signed to Century Media and Wolverine to Elitist / Earache Records. We helped the bands out with the deals because we knew that this could happen, sad for us but very good for the bands, and that was more important for us. In summer of 2002 we released our 6th album, the second album from Ashes To Ashes of Norway ("Cardinal VII"), and again we reached a few new deals. The reactions were once again very positive and once more we showed the diversity of the label, this time we had a release that can be categorized as progressive doom / gothic, or Gregorian Metal as we call it.
