At Dutch International Schools (DIS) we provide government funded international education for children aged 4 to 19 whose parents (temporarily) moved to the Netherlands for work. These schools also provide fitting education for Dutch children who moved back to the Netherlands with their families after living abroad for a period of at least two years. At this moment DIS consist of more than twenty primary schools, the Dutch International Primary Schools (DIPS) and nearly twenty secondary schools, the Dutch International Secondary Schools (DISS). The schools are located in and around larger cities throughout the Netherlands. State-funded international schools are important for the competitiveness of the Netherlands. The availability of competitively priced international education plays an important role for international companies that need to decide where to establish themselves in Europe. Dutch International Schools across the country offer high quality international education in a Dutch setting. The language of instruction in English. All students also learn Dutch, the host country language. We aim to provide our students with the option to seamlessly continue their educational journey anywhere in the world, whilst at the same time giving them the tools to participate in Dutch society. Dutch International Schools are culturally competent and internationally minded, teaching and learning in communities consisting of families of different backgrounds, cultures and speaking a wide variety of home languages. We also strongly belief in the ownership of teaching and learning in which teachers and students go on a learning journey together.
