Headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, Hastings Deering has over 3000 employees, across 23 business service centres throughout Queensland, Northern Territory, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia. In 1992, the Hastings Deering Group was purchased by Sime Darby Berhad, one of the oldest and largest Cat dealers in the world and a multinational organisation with more than 200 companies operating in 26 countries. Safetech was formed in 1985 by a Doctor, Lawyer and Engineer with the identification of a real need for a product that would reduce back injuries in pallet loading applications. Managing Director Lindsay Wakefield (at the time practicing) and seeing work place injuries identified the need. The company has continued to grow throughout the years, adding products and partnerships that bring highly effective handling solutions to the Australian Market.
