The first brewery for SweetWater was off of Fulton Industrial Boulevard, on Atlanta’s west side and opened our doors on February 17th, 1997. SweetWater’s second and current location is in Midtown Atlanta, adjacent to Ansley Park, in the Armour Circle Industrial Park just off of Piedmont and Monroe. This new building is 115,000 square feet of brewing goodness and smack in the middle of all the action. Since the brewery began we’ve wanted to be closer to our homes, the bars and stores that sell our beer, and all the good folks that drink it. Fortunately seven years of great growth gave us that opportunity. We learned a lot from that location and left all those mistakes behind as we built our new home. We have been here since 2004 and it feels good to be settled in. Our new home has enough capacity to brew 420,000 barrels of beer a year, but hopefully it'll be a few more years before we start feeling the walls getting tight again. SweetWater holds tours and tastings weekly on Thursday's and Friday between 4:20 and 9 Saturday 11 - 10 & Sundays 12:30 - 7pm. SweetWater is also open for private events throughout the week.

Since 1994, Shipyard Brewing Company has been brewing fine quality products with a wide range of style profiles. All our beer is hand crafted from recipes developed by master brewer Alan Pugsley, one of the most influential people in the craft brewing movement in North America. In 2009, Shipyard Brewing Company shipped 1,137,465 cases (82,558 barrels) of our award-winning, hand-crafted ales. We also shipped 45,750 cases (3,321 barrels) of Capt'n Eli's Soda. The total brewing capacity of the brewery is 140,000 barrels so we have the ability to double our production in the years ahead. At peak production, we fill 144,000 bottles per day (6,000 cases). The Shipyard Brewing Company was founded by master brewer Alan Pugsley and entrepreneur Fred Forsley. Shipyard first began in 1992 at Federal Jack's Restaurant and Brew Pub in Kennebunk, which is one of Maine's original brew pubs and working breweries. Within two years, demand for Shipyard beer outpaced the small operation and, in April 1994, Forsley and Pugsley opened the Shipyard Brewing Company in the heart of the waterfront in Portland, Maine on the site of the former Crosby Laughlin Foundry.
