Ds-connex was created by the Wells Foundation to empower the Down syndrome community. Inspired by our nephew Daniel, we have set a goal of increasing the national fundraising results for the National Buddy Walk program to $40 million by 2019. Our shared vision includes: Community We share core values that support the rights of people with Down syndrome We have shared experiences with families meeting the needs of people with Down syndrome We support advocacy for our community in public policy making We value the role of the volunteer We believe collaboration builds a stronger community We embrace the sharing of ideas to strengthen local impact Outreach We believe in an informed and accepting community We connect you with a broader audience of participants, volunteers and donors We assist you in strengthening relationships with supporters and advocates We support the promotion of walk events year-round We help you attract and engage the next generation of supporters We engage local funders and celebrities to endorse your Down syndrome walk We help you embrace the use of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and others Fundraising We promote the use of an online fundraising system called Stride, developed exclusively for volunteers and organizations hosting community events We help you provide individuals and teams with a more effective way to recruit participants and receive donations We facilitate an increase in the average donations per team and total dollars raised We strive to reduce the time staff and volunteers invest to coordinate event registration and promotion, and collection of donations We want to teach you how social media can best impact fundraising results
