Despite recent advancements, over 20,000 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in the US each year will live shorter than 5 years. Young women with breast cancer often face the more aggressive forms that respond poorly to current therapies. Our novel approach will provide new medicines to combat the diseases much more efficaciously than existing drugs. Lung cancer is the biggest killer among all cancers in the US. The 5-year relative survival rate is about 15%. It means that more than 160,000 new lung cancer patients each year will not live longer than 5 years from the time of diagnosis. Recent targeted therapies to lung cancers promise to improve response and survival in a small subset of patients. DDC can do much better. Our new biological insights have created a precious opportunity to discover new and effective medicines unlike any others in the foreseeable future.
