For over 38 years, Reach for a Dream Foundation has been dedicated to alleviating the strain that life-threatening illnesses placed on sick children and their families by providing dreamers with the opportunity to believe in their greatest wish. Our mission is to encourage children to use their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses and inspire hope. We bring joy and laughter to their difficult situation and help them believe that tomorrow is worth fighting for.
These children are between the ages of 3 to 18 years. They have used their dream to fight illnesses such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, kidney failure, blood disorders and heart conditions.
The South African Red Cross Society is a member organisation of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), which is the largest volunteer driven organisation on earth.
Our mission of the South African Red Cross Society is to render services to prevent, alleviate human suffering and to foster human dignity in all communities by addressing the basic needs of the people in accordance with the fundamental principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
Our vision is for the South African Red Cross Society (SARCS) to be a democratic service organization that is effective, high profile, dynamic, sensitive to the needs of all communities and acting within the fundamental principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
Our core work focuses significantly on health and care services in addition to community-led disaster risk reduction priorities. SA Red Cross Society also implements further programs that are off international significance, i.e. the restoration of Family Links, Dissemination of the Fundamental Principles and International Humanitarian Law (IHL). These programs are crucial for the SA Red Cross Society to be responsible during peacetime and times of conflict.
Good Work Foundation is a non-profit organization that is pioneering a new, digitalized model of education for rural African people. We launch digital learning campuses at the center of rural or isolated communities and democratize access to learning that is relevant to a global economy and digital marketplace.
Since our launch in 2006, we have piloted four digital learning campuses that have provided digital education programs to more than 10,000 people in some of South Africa’s most vulnerable areas, maintaining a 95% graduation rate for adult learners and an annual improvement rate of up to 37% in English and math proficiency for school-aged learners.
