Youth Art Exchange
Youth Art Exchange sparks a shared creative practice between professional artists and public high school students, furthering youth as leaders, thinkers, and artists in San Francisco. To accomplish this, Youth Art Exchange offers citywide arts, high quality education programming, field trips, events, and more. Our current disciplines include Architecture + Construction, Black + White Photography, Music Production, Fashion Design, Dance, and Printmaking. Programs include: – Fall and Spring Session Free After School Arts Programs – Fall and Spring Session Free In-School Arts Programs – Stipended Spring Internship Program – Stipended Summer Arts Internship Program – Stipended Youth leadership positions: Youth Advisory Board, Teaching Assistant Positions, Alumni Internship – San Francisco Youth Arts Summit The majority of students who come to Youth Art Exchange end up staying on for multiple sessions. They stay with us because they make friends from outside of their school and neighborhood, because they explore relevant themes that they come up with themselves, and because they get to know their city better. Finally, they stay because they and the faculty artists leading their classes become each other’s biggest fans. Our youth are diverse, and what they share in common is motivation, curiosity, and a willingness to put themselves out there and try something new. They help create what Youth Art Exchange is, and it is a place that is safe to do all of those things – to be weird, to be serious, to be unsure but try it anyway. It’s a place where they can learn how to best articulate their ideas and have the space to share them. Formerly known as Out of Site Youth Arts Center, Youth Art Exchange was founded in 2000 by architect Beth Rubenstein and visual artist Jennifer Stuart.

ArtSpan
ArtSpan, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, builds community by connecting the public to visual arts in San Francisco. Through SF Open Studios, youth and adult education, and art-centric events, ArtSpan creates a platform for artists to thrive, fostering a Bay Area that values the arts. SF Open Studios is the oldest and largest open studios program in the country, featuring an annual, month-long art event in the fall that showcases over 600 emerging and established San Francisco artists in their studios. Each weekend, art patrons, admirers, and collectors venture out on self-guided tours to see as many SF Open Studios artists and their artworks as possible, in the hopes of finding their next true art love. The event connects collectors with artists for engaging dialogue and a glimpse into the life of the working artist; SF Open Studios simultaneously helps artists build their mailing lists, gain new admirers, and ultimately sustain a living making art. The Art-In-Neighborhoods program creates opportunities for artists across a spectrum of mediums and career stages to showcase their work at San Francisco locations with local and tourist appeal. These unconventional exhibitions foster unexpected art discoveries, inspire new generations of art collectors, facilitate sales that directly benefit local artists, bolster community development, and advance neighborhood vitality and economic recovery. ArtSpan’s Artist & ArtLover Memberships for creators and collectors offer year-round benefits and programming, such as professional development and technical assistance workshops for artists led by industry professionals; networking outings to arts and culture spaces and events, connecting artist members and the greater arts community; and special curated events, such as private collection tours, mixers, and educational panels.
