Downforce Technologies Information

Downforce Technologies measures the land that businesses depend on, so they can monitor risk, build resilience and simplify reporting. Everything starts with soil, and extends from there to land cover, biomass, biodiversity and water. We measure soil organic carbon from earth observation calibrated to local conditions, at 10m resolution on a 10-day cycle, with a continuous record reaching back to 2017. Our patented method works from a field boundary alone, in any country and across any crop. Downforce was founded in 2021 by Professor Jacqueline McGlade, former Chief Scientist of the UN Environment Programme and former Executive Director of the European Environment Agency. More than 140 leaders in food, fibre and finance, across 23 countries and six continents, now use our data across 3 million hectares. Our methodology is ISO 14064-1 and ISO 14064-2 validated, third-party audited, and aligns with the GHG Protocol's Land Sector and Removals Standard, SBTi FLAG, the Oxford Offsetting Principles and the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles.
