Double Dragon Martial Arts Gym Information

Double Dragon was originally established by Sifu Mick Spinks in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney at Kingsford in 1983. This gym operated for 18 years, nicknamed the cave it produced some of the best fighters of that era. Mick opened his modern centre at 55 East Parade, Sutherland in 1998. This Gym offers an up to date training facility with a wide range of programs catering for Beginners to Advanced, Competition fighters and Instructor training. The experienced coaches will guide you into the styles you choose helping you to build the foundations for your technique, fitness and strength development. Double Dragon coaches will help you to build a programme that helps you to achieve your goals and objectives. All classes and systems have graded curriculum with realistic skill and fitness goals associated with them. The Objective of the beginner classes is to encourage students to focus on the basic skills and to build a fitness foundation to enable a calculated progression. As the students move through the beginner levels to the intermediate classes the focus is on more hands on, partner, get it right or tip tap reaction type sparring and partner drill exercises, learning to relax and react as Mick likes to describe it. The intermediate level training also focuses on improving strength and pushing the boundaries with anaerobic interval type conditioning. This conditioning is done sometimes by cross training and also Thai Pad work. Instructors at Double Dragon are accredited under the Government recognised MAiA (Martial Arts Industry Association) that ensures they have an understanding of safe up to date training principles and environment. We offer a broad range of styles, including Kickboxing, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, MMA, Boxing skill and fitness, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Arnis - Kali and our own hybrid style Dragon Fist Freestyle which is a compilation of stand up ground and open hand systems.
