Docent is an art-tech company built around the artists shaping contemporary culture. Founded in 2021 by Helene Nguyen-Ban, collector and former gallerist, we've assembled a curated network of 160 leading galleries and 3,000 artists who are defining the visual language of our time. We started with a conviction: contemporary artists feel what's shifting before the rest of us can see it. They are the first to register changes in identity, desire, and the way a society represents itself, years before these shifts reach design, architecture, or the visual language of everyday life. That's what drew us to build everything around them. Our technologies go beyond visual similarity. We map what artistic practices mean in context, how they connect to each other, and where they signal broader cultural shifts. Six years of mapping has taught us one thing: these signals carry far beyond the gallery. The visual codes emerging in contemporary art today reach every layer of culture years later. Today, we are expanding this intelligence beyond art discovery, helping brands and institutions engage with contemporary culture with the same depth and precision we bring to collectors. Our mission: to make the most challenging contemporary art more accessible, and the culture it shapes more readable, for those who want to understand it, and for those who want to act on it.
