DNP3 Technical Committee Information

It is the charter of the DNP3 Technical Committee to maintain the DNP3 protocol in a manner consistent with protecting the investment of the general membership in DNP3 technology while continuing to encourage innovation, growth, and inter-operability. The Technical Committee shall manage changes within the DNP3 protocol by balancing the need for stability with the need for change. When change is necessary every attempt must be made to insure backward compatibility with existing certified equipment. When this is not possible, sufficient warning of non-backward-compatible changes shall be given. The Technical Committee shall always strive to guarantee inter-operability between certified DNP3 equipment. Inter-operability shall take precedence over backward compatibility when both goals are not achievable.
