Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM) is the flagship company of The Safal Group, and was its founding operation, commencing in 1962 at Mariakani, near Mombasa Kenya.
MRM was the first company in Africa to produce coated steel using a patented Aluminium-Zinc alloy recognised as the leading technology worldwide to deliver superior service life to steel. This technology is licensed to the Safal Group by BIEC International.
MRM has an integrated Coil facility at Mariakani producing world class Coated and Painted Coated Coil products from which it manufactures a plethora of prestigious Roofing products in its facilities across Kenya. MRM has service centers located in Athi River (near Nairobi), Thika, Kisumu, Eldoret, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kisii and Nyeri. MRM also has the largest Distributor network in the Country for Coated Steel products.
Metal coated steel is sold as Zincal®. Colour coated Zincal is marketed under the brand names Colorplus®, Optima® and Optima Plus® in an array of popular colours that are both durable and beautiful.
MRM’s roofing products are the leading brands in their markets and continue to define the standards across the Construction sector. These include Dumuzas®, Resincot® and Versatile® brands, which are undisputed leaders in the market. A host of other products are also offered to the emerging projects market including the innovative Saflok700 ® Concealed Fixed System and Light Weight High Strength Steel Trusses known as Ultraspan®
MRM lives by the mantra that “Our Communities are our Homes” and plays an active role in uplifting the disadvantaged through philanthropic activities in shelter, education, health and environment. The Safal-MRM Foundation manages two large projects;The Mabati Technical Training Institute and the Mabati Medical Centre, both in Mariakani, adjacent to the MRM facilities.
EWB – Zambia is a member based, humanitarian non profit organisation that was created to support communities by enhancing community based projects via planning and implementing sustainable engineering solutions to problems faced around us for instance lack of access to basic human requirements such as electrification, clean water, clean energy, housing, transport, education, health &digital access, just to name a few.
EWB – Zambia is entirely run by volunteers; a network of Professionals and students from across Zambia. It is funded solely by donations/grants. We are available to work with partner organisations and other non profit organizations that align with the cause by providing qualified professionals and technical support for implementation of projects around the world. We envision a tomorrow where communities have access to basic human needs, its a daunting task but we are firm believers in humanitarian engineering, creating an environment that fosters a unified action towards addressing global issues.
Education and training are a key part of our mission statement, working with the education sector to propel the modelling of a new cohort of students who have the apprehension and opportunity to be global responsible citizens and engineers.
