Disability Medical Information

Disability Medical was established in 2015 by Dr Lisa Sherry who has worked with people with long-term disability for many years. She noted that in our community people often lose touch with their Rehabilitation Physician. When this happened their doctors, Allied Health Practitioners and Community Service Providers did not know where to find answers regarding their clients' condition. Dr Sherry's solution is Disability Medical, a referral based private Rehabilitation Medicine practice. Dr Sherry has been caring for patients as a Rehabilitation Physician for over 20 years. Her first job as a specialist was in Bendigo, caring for inpatients and outpatients with chronic neurological conditions. In 2003 she started as the Neurological Rehabilitation consultant at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre. There she manages both inpatients and outpatients while working with a team of therapists. She also teaches trainee Rehabilitation Physicians. Since 1998 she has been an independent advisor to the Transport Accident Commission and in 2008 this role expanded to include WorkSafe Victoria. Her role as an insurance advisor has allowed her to understand the clients' experience of the insurer as well as the insurer's perspective.
