Disability Assistance of Central Texas, Inc. was chartered in 1999. Its mission to promote and support community inclusion for people with disabilities is the basis for services in the areas of independent living, employment and adaptive technology. Services are based on client choice and client direction. The agency carries on a tradition of serving people with significant and multiple disabilities, its history dating to 1957 and its inception as the local affiliate of United Cerebral Palsy Associations, Inc. The relationship with the national UCPA organization was terminated in 1998. The new agency name reflects the fact that agency programs serve people with all disabilities.
