The DNi Process™ has been developed over the last 12 years and is now ideally and uniquely placed to take advantage of the surging demand for nickel which is being driven by the electric vehicle (“EV”) battery industry. The DNi Process™ is: • Proven; • Environmentally friendly; • Economically competitive; and • Gaining wide acceptance from emerging producers and end-users. The company now has its first licensee for the DNi Process™ for a project with an anticipated life of at least 20 years. The company is targeting to have at least four 20+ year licences executed within the next five years. Those licences will yield substantial annual profits and render the company attractive to both ethical and green investment funds. The DNi Process™ is a unique, patent protected method for the extraction of nickel, cobalt and other constituent metals contained in laterite ore. The process treats the full laterite ore profile (both limonite and saprolite) and uses nitric acid as the lixiviant. The DNi Process™ delivers nickel and cobalt in the form of a mixed hydroxide product (“MHP”) which is one of the preferred feed materials for refineries supplying the EV battery manufacturers. The only other source of MHP is the high-pressure acid leach (“HPAL”) technology, which is extremely complex, compared with the simpler flowsheet of the DNi Process™. From ore acceptance to disposal of the leach residue, the DNI Process™ has minimal impact on the environment because 95% of the nitric acid used is recovered and recycled meaning that the leach residue can be returned to the mine. As that product retains a small amount of magnesium nitrate, the growth of local flora will be encouraged. Furthermore, in conjunction with the recovery of nitric acid, the process delivers magnesium oxide without the usual production of carbon dioxide.
