Diocese of Lagos Information

The Diocese of Lagos founded on 10th December, 1919 is the mother of all the dioceses of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion. It was very much involved with the formulation of the Vision of The Church of Nigeria which is as follows:"The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) shall be; bible-based, spiritually dynamic, united, disciplined, self supporting, committed to pragmatic evangelism, social welfare and a Church that epitomizes the genuine love of Christ". God continues to endow us and by His grace we have an array of experienced crop of Clergymen, a Diocesan training institution for Priests, a Bible College to produce a large band of Bible literate among her laity, model secondary institutions including the flagship secondary school in Nigeria, the CMS Grammar School which was founded in June 1859 and a Junior Seminary named after the founder of the school, Thomas Babington Macaulay, and a complement of other fast growing schools recently returned to her by the State Government. She shares the ownership of some of these legacies with other dioceses within the Lagos area. Through its Directorates of Missions, Evangelism and Discipleship, Sunday school, Youth, the Elderly Fellowship, Health, Church Planting and the Prisons Chaplaincy, the Diocese has taken her care Ministry to greater heights. She is spreading the Good News within the diocese and far into the North of Nigeria through the sponsorship of Missionary Dioceses. The Diocese of Lagos has consolidated on her past gains to plant new churches and open up new areas especially on Epe and Lekki Peninsula axis of the diocese. The Diocese, under the leadership of the Diocesan, The Most Revd. Dr. Ephraim Adebola Ademowo, OON, is trusting God to continue to make her maintain her leadership position in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and be a strong voice for the Lord on national and international issues.
