Every system in the chain checks the step before it. The accounts payable system confirms the invoice matches the purchase order. The purchase order confirms the budget. Finance confirms the payment matches the approved invoice. Each check passes, so the business assumes the invoice is right. None of those systems checks the invoice against the contract itself: the rate cards, volume discounts, fuel clauses, and payment terms that were actually negotiated. Cross Invoice Verification checks invoices against each other; Invoice-to-Contract Verification checks the invoice against the contract behind it. Both directions are in scope: what suppliers bill a business, and what a business bills its own customers. We built a Verification Architecture around this. Multiple independent models check the same data, and disagreements get flagged rather than averaged away. Every extraction traces back to its source document, so a finding is never asserted without evidence to show for it.
