Founded in 2018 at MIT Open Learning by leading universities across North America, Europe, and Asia, Digital Credentials Consortium (DCC) built a trusted, shared infrastructure for issuing, storing, displaying, and verifying digital credentials. Effective immediately, DCC has a new name, Digital Credentials Commons and will be hosted by Strada Education Foundation. As a Commons, we're connecting institutions, organizations, platforms, and companies across the digital credentialing ecosystem. Together, we will scale our services and continue to advance the understanding and use of privacy-enhanced, verifiable, data-rich digital credentials through open source technology development and leadership, research, and advocacy. At the center of this work is a simple goal: empowering learners to have real access to and control over their credential data, so they can store and share their achievements wherever opportunity takes them. Educators, technologists, researchers, policymakers, and lifelong learners, help us shape what comes next. All are welcome.
