Founded by Dr. Karl Gugel, Digital Control Lab started its life in 1998 as an electronics consulting firm known as DiCon Labs. During the early years, DiCon Lab was contacted by a leading cement manufacturer to replace microphone based systems for real-time mill loading measurements. The result was the first generation of MillScan products. DiCon Lab then expanded with new marketing and engineering personnel to form Digital Control Lab. DCL is presently on its 4th generation of MillScan systems and has an installed base of over 400 MillScans worldwide. At the height of the financial collapse in 2009, capex projects in cement came to a screeching halt, and therefore we migrated our extensive grinding analysis & expertise to the mining world. The result is the most advanced and comprehensive instrument available for use on SAG and AG mills known as MillSlicer. DCL is based in Gainesville Florida, and we proudly design and manufacture our systems in the United States.
