Dick's Uptown Cafe Information

Dick's Uptown Cafe is located in the heart of Cedar Hill, Texas, right near the hustle and bustle of the Uptown Village Shopping Center, but far enough away to where you'll miss most of the traffic! Dick's opened its doors in February 2009 by husband-and-wife duo Dick and Teril Woodward, but their story started many years before that. Dick and Teril have been residents of Cedar Hill since 1997. The lovebirds and their two daughters, Betsy and Meg, moved from Carrollton, Texas. Dick started managing restaurants in the 70s, beginning with The Sailmaker in Ft Worth/Dallas. Over the years he has managed The Railhead (Houston), Banks and Shane's (Atlanta), Tolbert's Chili Parlor (Dallas), and The Hoffbrau (Dallas/Ft.Worth), which is where he met his lovely wife, and future business partner, Teril. He was a partner in Crumly Cogwheels (Houston) beginning in 1976, and in 1985 Dick was back in Dallas opening his own restaurant Woodways Café in downtown Dallas. He and Teril managed Woodways and eventually two other locations in the city for several years. In 1989, they took over another diner, Cafe Esprit, in the old First City Bank Building, and owned and managed Woody's Grill in the adjacent building. Dick's Uptown Cafe was a dream of Dick and Teril's for several years, not only to end the lengthy commute from Cedar Hill to downtown Dallas, but also to give the people of their hometown a quality, family-owned restaurant. Dick's started as a breakfast and lunch diner, and has since blossomed into so much more. Teril's Takeout, which pre-makes family favorites and freezes them so they can be picked up for dinner that evening, or for a special event, has gotten even the most organized moms out of a bind. Dick's also delivers and hosts catering events, making every catering menu specialized to your satisfaction. The best part about Dick's Uptown Cafe is the people. Every employee is considered family, and most of them literally are blood-related! Dick is often walking around shaking hands and meeting new customers, while Teril and their daughters run around making sure every plate is made to order and enjoyed to the fullest. There's nothing "corporate" or "chain" in nature at Dick's; just good, quality food that will leave you feeling not only full, but also a little happier.
