Destinations Booksellers of New Albany, through its membership in the Southeast Booksellers Association, is a sponsoring organization for the show. P.R.P. has joined with the Southeast Booksellers Association (SEBA) to add a new dimension to The Spoken Word radio series by bringing the show permanently to Louisville, Kentucky. "I never would have believed two years ago that The Spoken Word would be going national this soon, with hundreds of independent bookstores across the country sponsoring and supporting it with their author events," says SEBA Executive Director Wanda Jewell, whose organization is the program's underwriter. A live recording of The Spoken Word is scheduled for November 1, 2005 during the Kentucky Author Forum tenth season celebration. That program, at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, features veteran journalist Tom Brokaw interviewing New York Times journalist R.W. Apple Jr. The Camberley Collection, parent company to The Brown Hotel, previously produced the show. "We considered a number of very capable institutions to take over the reins and guide The Spoken Word to national prominence," according to Camberley Collection Chair Ian Lloyd-Jones, "We felt the leadership at P.R.P. not only understood the tremendous potential and promise of the program, but have the talent and skill set to make it happen." "We welcome Spoken Word to the Public Radio Partnership family," said P.R.P. President Gerry Weston, "We are tremendously excited and proud to become the producer for this respected program. Thanks to Ian Lloyd Jones for having confidence in the vision and future of Public Radio Partnership." Weston said that program enhancements and wider distribution of the program would be priorities. Daren Wang, who has been with the program since its inception, will continue as program host and producer.
