Founded in 1994, Desktop Aeronautics grew through 2012 into a well-established consulting firm dedicated to advancing the state of the art in aerodynamics and aircraft design. Desktop Aero provides conceptual aircraft design and shape optimization services to major aircraft manufacturers and Government agencies. We have significant experience and recognized expertise in aerodynamics, aircraft design, computational fluid dynamics, and multidisciplinary optimization. Over the years, we have worked with leading aerospace organizations on some of the most difficult challenges in aerospace industry. The firm also develops and distributes licensed software that addresses the needs of aircraft designers and increases the efficiency and productivity of the design process. Our software tools address diverse aspects of aircraft design and aerodynamics, and have been used in the design and development of several innovative concepts. We are located in the Silicon Valley, minutes from Stanford University. Our close ties with academia allow us to exploit the latest advances in the state of the art, develop them to maturity, and apply them to real-world problems facing the industry. In November of 2012 after a decade-long collaboration, Aerion Corporation (www.aerioncorp.com) demonstrated its commitment to the design capabilities developed by Desktop Aeronautics when it acquired the company. It now operates Desktop Aeronautics as a wholly owned subsidiary dedicated to developing and distributing to the aviation industry state-of-the-art design tools for aircraft of all types.
