Envirodesigns is a small Canadian company doing incredibly big things on an international level. It all started by introducing the most premium priced umbrella products from Switzerland to the North American market in 1987. Evelyn Millman never let an opportunity pass without exploring all its potential. The computer age had barely begun, woman were still "stay at home moms", the "Free Trade Agreement" was only a thought and the casual furniture industry had not yet developed the concept of the "Outdoor Room". Somehow a housewife , who had just received a Bachelor of Music degree took on this challenge. In 1987 Envirodesigns began selling and manufacturing some of the best made umbrellas in the world with, no doubt, Evelyn Millman at its helm. A continent away and almost century earlier the Glatz family of Switzerland began to manufacture garden umbrellas in a small workshop in Frauenfeld. By demonstrating its technical flair with various umbrella products the Glatz Company is now the most respected patio umbrella manufacturer in the world. Its relationship with other umbrella manufacturers perhaps best demonstrates the Glatz reputation for ingenious and reliable designs. Accordingly, Glatz holds patents in Europe and overseas. Glatz sets the standard for umbrella designs and engineering and is acknowledged in the industry for innovation, not imitation.
