DESGUA is a grassroots organization and network of community groups in Guatemala and the United States working to create economic and educational development with and for returned migrants and Mayan communities in Guatemala. We are working toward the Guatemalan Dream, the dream to not have to migrate up north. We strive to reintegrate returned migrants into Guatemalan society and to provide an alternative to emigration for those who feel like they have no other choice. DESGUA, furthermore, sees the promotion of cultural identity, fair trade, purchasing locally, and historical memory as an integral part to the sustainable development process. Share this:
