Leading institute in Europe offering Geoenergy and Petroleum Engineering studies from BSc to PhD levels. DPE’s roots go back to 1955, establishing the first chair ‘Drilling and Oil Production’ followed by ‘Reservoir Physics and Technology’ in 1976. Completing the hydrocarbon trio, ‘Drilling and Completion Engineering’ was added in 2001. Since January 2015, the three chairs of ‘ Drilling and Completion Engineering’, ‘Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Recovery’ and ‘Reservoir Engineering’ are consolidated in the Department Petroleum Engineering (DPE). In June 2016, the new DPE center of excellence was opened. These two milestones are key for sharing resources and combining the collective technical and administrative expertise.
