The Democracy Development Fund was established in 2006. The main goals of this non-profit organization were to strengthen the institutions of democracy, to implement solutions that establish democracy in the most transparent systems, to promote technological progress, to seek media transparency, to fight oligarchy, and increase the energy independence of Lithuania and other Baltic states. To achieve these goals, Fund publishes an economic and political magazine and organizes forums. In February 2007, Democracy Development Fund started publishing the monthly magazine ValstybÄ—. That year, the first Lithuanian Energy Conference was held, which was later renamed Vilnius GreenTech Forum. At the beginning of 2008, the first Lithuanian Economic Conference took place. This event later acquired the unofficial title of Lithuanian Davos. In order to counter the challenges posed by dictatorships, the Forum of Democracies in Vilnius was launched in 2021.
