The company, founded in 1870 as Dominick & Dickerman, changed its name to Dominick & Dominick in 1899. The firm was one of the original sources for closed-end funds, launching The Dominick Fund Inc. in 1920. In 1936 Dominick & Dominick acquired A. Iselin & Co. giving them their first Canadian office in Montreal which had opened for business in 1929. In 2006, the current partners acquired a controlling position in the Canadian operations, renaming the firm to D&D Securities Inc.
