Dawood Capital Management Limited (DCM) is a leading asset management company headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan with a commitment to optimal returns and a priority of social responsibility. DCM's roots are truly international and development driven having been co-founded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) who had 25% shareholding. Originally, DCM commenced business operations on January 1, 1993 as Pakistan Venture Capital Limited (PVCL) for venture capital financing and First Dawood Group took over management in 1999 and worked in partnership with ADB. With the dearth of venture investments in 2002, FDG and ADB converted PVCL to the nascent industry of asset management, changing its name to Dawood Capital Management Ltd. (DCM) to better reflect its new mission and mandate. In 2007, once DCM had PKR 6.9 B assets under management and had achieved the status of a strong player in the industry, ADB divested in order to help fuel other industries in Pakistan. DCM has both Asset Management Company and Investment Advisory licenses in good standing from the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) under the NBFC (Establishment & Regulations) Rules 2003. DCM has always been a trailblazer and was the first listed asset management company in the country. Today, the company manages both the open end Dawood Income Fund and the closed end First Dawood Mutual Fund, and is soon launching the open end Dawood Cash Fund. Under its Shariah Division, DCM also manages the closed end Dawood Islamic Fund.
