DC Empanadas was founded by Anna & Shawn Leis, a couple who loves international food from streets around the world. DCE is a locally owned business that focuses on fresh ingredients and unexpected flavor combinations, scratch-made daily. We use seasonal local ingredients when possible. Anna was born in Guatemala and developed a love for food and cooking at an early age. Shawn, a native of Silver Spring, has a background in finance but is a connoisseur of delicious food. We have both lived in the Washington, DC area most of our lives and decided to start DC Empanadas to bring our unique twist on empanadas to the nation’s capital.
