A Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos é uma operadora de transporte de passageiros ferroviários, com 1,9 milhão de passageiros transportados por dia útil (demanda antes da pandemia). Diariamente, os trens percorrem cerca de 65 mil km, ou uma volta e meia em torno da terra, em quase 1.700 viagens programadas. Juntas as cinco linhas da CPTM somam 196 km de extensão, dos quais 95 km estão na capital paulista, que também conta com 26 estações do total de 57.
