Dayna Communications, Inc. was an American computer hardware company specializing in networking products primarily for Apple devices, including the Macintosh, PowerBook, and Newton. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, the company became known for its innovative networking solutions, offering alternatives to traditional networking hardware. Some of their later products expanded to support PCI-based IBM PC compatibles. One of Dayna’s early and notable products was the MacCharlie, a hardware add-on for the Macintosh 128K that allowed it to run IBM PC software. Despite initial setbacks, the company rebounded with successful networking products such as the DaynaFile external SCSI drives and high-performance Ethernet adapters. In 1997, Intel Corporation acquired Dayna Communications, integrating its products and employees into Intel’s small business networking division. The company was fully dissolved in 1998.
