Daum.net is a web portal in South Korea and offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news. On August 2, 2004 Daum announced the purchase of Lycos for $95.4 million. In 2006, they started a blogging service Tistory.com and it became one of top 5 sites in Korea. They also made "tvPot", video sharing service and "skyview" aerial photography on the map service. In 2014, it merged with Kakao, the 1st mobile messenger in Korea and changed to "Daum Kakao".
