DATEAGLE ART was an online platform based in London that showcased and supported the work of emerging artists. Through in-depth interviews and on-site studio visits, it offered an intimate look at the talent and creativity of a new generation of artists deserving recognition and visibility. Founded in 2017 by Martin Mayorga, DATEAGLE ART was committed to promoting accessibility, diversity, and transparency. Its content was ad-free and gender-neutral, celebrating a wide range of artistic expression while rejecting fixed categories and supporting artists working across mediums including painting, photography, performance, sculpture, and more. The platform fostered critical dialogue and innovation, providing a space for artists, curators, and writers to share perspectives and collaborate, particularly those who had not previously had opportunities to do so. A focus on analogue photography resisted the rapid pace and instant gratification of digital media, instead honouring a slower and more considered process of image-making. Using 35mm photography, DATEAGLE ART documented weekly studio visits with local artists, offering a raw and unedited glimpse into their creative processes. This approach contrasted with the polished, globalised, and often over-curated representation of art commonly found in mainstream media. Offline, DATEAGLE ART curated nomadic exhibitions and events in various locations throughout the UK. These took place across a range of spaces, including domestic, industrial, and gallery settings. Each exhibition was conceived as site-specific, presenting works that engaged with and responded to the character of each space.
