We have delivered countless projects for clients ranging from enterprise security systems (100-1100 cameras, 10-70 doors), video AI solutions, wired and wireless networks, cyber security, and pretty much anything in any combination that crosses those technologies together. The Company: DataStew’s strengths are best described as conquering the space where Security & IT merge. We have the IT knowledge to help Security teams design & deploy quality systems, and vise versa. As part of that mindset, we offer services where we think we can increase the efficiency of a client’s Security or IT departments. Our goal for DataStew in the next ten years is to bring on and train the next generation of talent. The security industry has grown so much, and specialization has become so important that we think there is a need for in the industry for what we do. Our History: Chris Millar founded DataStew in 2011 because he saw a gap in the Physical Security space for good IT engineering. We started out mostly building networks for Port clients, with some consulting thrown in on the side (Chris was the project manager for City & Port of Oakland’s $5m Domain Awareness Center build). While working with client’s networks, we kept coming across systems that were poorly set up by their security integrators. Although the integrators were very capable low voltage installers, they had limited IT knowledge, which was trickling down to the final product. In 2015, with nudging from our clients, we ventured into the VMS world and became a Genetec dealer. Adding video management systems (VMS) and later access control quickly took over our project pipeline and it is what most clients are using us for today.
