The Data Transparency Lab was created in 2014 at the Telefónica R&D center in Barcelona and is one of the cornerstones of the company's great commitment to data transparency, cybersecurity and data ethics within the field of new technologies. Under the umbrella of the DTL, most of the best researchers in this area, from policy makers to computer scientists, have developed projects that help users understand their relationship with the companies that handle their data. Innovation and talent overlap in a project, in tune with Telefónica's commitment to digitalization, which in recent years has transformed more than 60% of its analogue processes into digital in a clear determination to develop new technologies. The DTL Grants Program allows to attract and foster the talent of young students and entrepreneurs who, since 2015, have benefited from more than €900,000 to develop projects with the technical support of the CDO professionals, thus forming an important shuttle of ideas related to data transparency and security, led by Chema Alonso, the Chief Data Officer of Telefónica.
