Data Refinery is a tech start-up and a data monetization platform, owned by Aller Media, and a leader in the Finnish data business. It is a spin off from Nordic publisher Aller Media (established 1873). The platform was originally developed and launched in 2016 for Aller Media Finland in order to commercialize consumer data. Data Refinery merged to be a part of Aller Media Finland again in spring 2020. Data Refinery has a unique capability to combine different data sources, such as online behavior based interest profiles with traditional CRM data. Data Refinery makes it possible for any company to improve their product development, customer services, sales and marketing with data. It also enables easy monetization of any owner of customer and/or online behavioral data. In less than 3 years, Aller Media Finland became the leading company in Finland to harvest consumer data as an income asset. Data business has been in the core of Aller Media Finland’s transformation strategy in the turmoil of the media business and the results have been highly promising so far.
