On January 1, 2016 two new state agencies were established: the Danish Geodata Agency and the Danish Agency for Data Supply and Efficiency. The new Danish Geodata Agency (GST) is responsible for the Danish land register, which constitutes the legal record of properties in Denmark and forms the basis of the sale, mortgaging, valuation and taxation of real property in Denmark. The GST is also responsible for hydrographic charting and mapping for the use of navigation within shipping and leisure sailing in Danish, Greenlandic and Faroese waters. This includes responsibility for the sale and distribution of marine data and products in Denmark and Greenland. Concerning both the property and maritime areas the GST focusses on promoting collaboration across the public sector with a view to providing citizens and companies with the best possible service and facilitating efficient problem solving across the public sector. The Danish Geodata Agency moved to Aalborg in November 2016 and is located at Lindholm Brygge 31 9400 Nørresundby.
