I help EU investment firms scale AI-driven growth through compliant, audit-ready decision systems. My perspective on AI in regulated environments was shaped long before AI became fashionable. After completing my PhD in Machine Learning at the Technical University of Denmark, I co-founded a company building AI systems for vessel optimisation in the maritime industry. We deployed custom models directly into live operations where errors were visible, measurable, and costly. AI was not a prototype. It influenced real-world decisions. I remained with the company through its acquisition, serving as CEO, CTO, and VP of AI. Across those roles, I learned something that applies directly to regulated financial markets: Model performance is difficult. Designing systems that remain defensible under scrutiny is harder. In regulated environments, the real challenge is not building models. It is building decision systems that withstand inspection.
