Dandelion Dance Company Information

Dandelion Dance Company has performed in front of hundreds of audiences, including numerous major conferences and events. If you are looking for an emotionally engaging and authentic performance for your upcoming event, look no further. Our performances are unlike anything most people have seen, giving audiences a chance to connect with the real emotions, stories and perspectives of youth in a meaningful and inspiring way. Our performances are intended for both youth and mature audiences. We frequently perform for conferences, community events, and universities. We also do shows for schools, grades 6 and up, including middle and high schools. Our school performances give young audiences a chance to understand how the voices of youth can express powerful and important ideas that affect their communities. Our company is comprised of young women of all body sizes as well as physical and intellectual abilities. We aim to break stereotypes not only of what dance is, but also who can dance. Although our company is made up of young women, schools have found that boys have been very interested in what the company does and that it can be an enlightening experience for them to learn more about gender issues and create a space for this dialogue. Our dances address a wide range of subject matter, with emphasis on social issues that affect our young women as well as issues the Company is passionate about. Past subject matter has included hunger, stereotypes, authenticity, children's rights, human trafficking, inclusion, beauty and self-image, poverty, and forgiveness, among other things. Some of our dances evolve from the personal stories and experiences of company members, told in a social justice context. We share and learn from one another's creativity. Our goal remains to share with you in a most authentic way, creating a very intimate and personal show. We offer everything from a 10 minute dance sharing as a conference opening or interlude, to a full hour show followed by a question-and-answer period.
