DAFI Alpacas Information

DAFI Alpacas is located in northern Baltimore County, just 35 minutes from downtown Baltimore City. The first breeders in Maryland to raise alpacas, we started in 1993 with ten alpacas. Today our herd numbers about thirty-five. Approximately one-half are Huacayas and one-half are Suris. At DAFI Alpacas, we strive to maintain a small, highly selective herd of quality Huacaya and Suri alpacas. As the first breeders in Maryland, we have over 14 years experience of providing our customers with top bloodlines from Peru, Bolivia and Chile. We also have a wide range of raw fleeces, yarns and finished products, and pride ourselves on our reputation for outstanding customer support. At DAFI Alpacas, the term "the huggable investment" takes a new meaning; all of our crias are used in our Baltimore County 4H program, and as PR animals in nursing homes and schools. DAFI always has a wonderful selection of pet and top quality show animals available in a wide range of ages and colors. Several times a year DAFI sponsors seminars and other special events. Our seminars, such as Alpaca Basics, provide new breeders with foundation knowledge for making a sound investment decision to effectively care for their alpacas, to take full advantage of the tax benefits, and to best utilize alpaca fiber.
