My name is Sergei Urban and I am a full-time dad to two adorable boys Alex and Max. We love creative play, experiments, easy-to-make crafts and, of course, educational toys.
I created TheDadLab to share creative projects that we do at home with as many parents as possible to inspire them to spend more quality time with their kids and to develop a thirst for knowledge and understanding in those curious little minds.
Let's be honest parents never have a lot of free time. So I am always trying to come up with projects using materials that everyone can find at home… and, of course, ensuring that activities are fun for the children! You will see (if you haven't already) from my posts how easy they are to set up and I really hope you can encourage your kids to put their own unique “twist” on the projects.
A little bit about me... I am not a teacher or a scientist nor do I have any background in filming. It all just came naturally to me after I became a dad. I should say that I am very lucky to be able to make TheDadLab my job and spend all the time in the world with my precious boys whilst getting incredible support from my better half and my community.
Fun fact! Alex and Max were born on the same day but two years apart, making all birthday twice as special (except for Alex's second birthday that we spent in a hospital). Perhaps this is why they are so similar - always wanting to play with the same toy (:
I hope through reading this and learning a bit more about me and my kids you are encouraged to have a go yourself building happy memories together and seeing the excitement in their eyes as you unveil a new surprise for them to investigate and play with.
Dads of Disability is mostly about men, but it was written by men, women, and children. It was originally created to meet the needs of masters of genetic counseling students. The book is of great use to genetic counselors, but also social workers, educators, psychologists, pediatricians, other medical specialists, moms, dads, and grandparents!
