Cycling Ireland Information

Cycling Ireland is the National Governing Body for the Sport of Cycling on the island of Ireland. Our aim is to promote cycling as an accessible and enjoyable pursuit where every cyclist may participate and develop to their full potential. Cycling Ireland is responsible for many aspects of the sport: Membership - Cycling Ireland has seen 720% growth in membership in ten years with almost 30k members at the end of 2017. Insurance - All Members of Cycling Ireland benefit from having Personal Accident and Third Party Public Liability Insurance. Cycling Ireland clubs promote and run 900+ events every year, crossing all cycling disciplines (Road, Off-Road, Track, BMX) - both Social and Competitive. Cycling Ireland has a full Coach Education Programme, where coaches can progress through a pathway from coaching at the grass roots level right up to High Performance. Included in this is the MBLA (Mountain Bike Leader Award) Cycling Ireland offers Skills Programmes to people of all ages, levels and abilities (Sprocket Rocket, Gearing Up and Bike for Life). Cycling Ireland developed the National Cycling Standard, Cycle Right, in conjunction with the Department of Transport, the RSA and other stakeholders. Cycling Ireland has a very strong Paracycling team, with a supporting development programme. Cycling Ireland has joined up with Cyclist.ie, the cycling advocacy group, to strengthen the voice of cycling in Ireland. Cycling Ireland develops cyclists from the Grass Roots to High Performance (from Sprocket Rocket to the Olympics).
