At Curnow we believe the education of all young people, including those with special educational needs, is improved by strong partnership between everyone involved with them. We recognise that our SEN support and OUTREACH services play a crucial role in helping to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEN and disabilities. Our current Outreach support service aims to promote partnership between special and mainstream schools assisting teachers to overcome potential barriers to achievement by providing guidance, advice and support. In order to help meet the diverse needs of children and young people who are in the mainstream setting we aim to: Illustrate good practice in the provision of SEN support Help build capacity within services and settings Help play a role in school improvement Ensure all children and young people have the same entitlement as all children and young people to participate equitably in education Offer guidance, expertise and experience to help further develop curriculum access including planning and differentiation Contribute to the assessment of an individuals learning needs Support colleagues with P scales moderation Provide opportunities to observe children and young people in teaching and learning situations identifying helpful working strategies Provide a range of in-service training to suit the school's individual needs (e.g. - Team Teach, Literacy, Numeracy) which may also include modeling and coaching to further support effective working practices Provide access to resources and information on a range of topics Provide specialist equipment for loan to individual pupils Monitor the impact of programmes and interventions to evaluate effectiveness of our service In addition to this support we will, wherever possible, foster mainstream links for our pupils during any stage of their school career (including colleges of Further Education).
