Curable is a nonprofit that brings experts together around rare diseases to coordinate research and drug development activities. We support and engage research organizations generating new understanding of rare, unsolved diseases, and we also support and engage companies generating drugs and devices for patients with rare diseases. Our role is to coordinate more efficient, collaborative responses that speak to unmet medical needs, using diverse streams of resources. Right now Curable is working to eliminate a deadly autoimmune disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) and overlapping conditions. This insidious illness affects children as young as age 3 and has laid waste to individuals of such legendary fitness as Walter Payton; 75% of PSC patients also have ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. They frequently require a liver transplant to survive and are at greatly increased risk for cancer of the bile ducts, liver, and colon. Our team is experienced in bringing new diagnostics and therapeutics to market in a time frame meaningful for patients.
