CURA is a pre-orientation program at Georgetown University combining the intersection between healthcare and social justice. The program lasts 5 days, inviting a total of 15 incoming freshmen to participate in various volunteer experiences within the greater D.C. community. Experiences have included volunteering at low-barrier shelters for those experiencing homelessness and Community Companions in partnership with Catholic Charities, as well as with Martha's Table. CURA invites a wide variety of guest speakers pertaining to both the healthcare identity of the program and the Jesuit values of Georgetown University. During the school year and after the program's end, CURA leaders work to continue providing guidance to freshmen participants in their transition to the Hilltop!
