The CUNY Public Interest Technology (PIT) Lab is a collaborative hub dedicated to ensuring technology serves the civic sector and supports overall community well-being. We equip students, faculty, civic partners, and community members with the skills to design inclusive and trustworthy approaches to technology—fostering collaboration built on the understanding that tech is never value-neutral. By building career pathways into the civic and nonprofit sector and creating accessible opportunities for experiential learning, we’re shaping the next generation of public interest technologists. In 2025, we established the first-ever NYC Public Interest Technology Pop Up, currently located at the iconic Oculus/World Trade Center. Each week we showcase new projects exploring how technology can be used for the public good, sharing this vital work with the wider community of New Yorkers. Visit us Tuesdays through Thursdays from 2:00pm-6:00pm or check our calendar for upcoming events!
