Cubic3 supplied services and equipment to rail, defence and construction, and produced bespoke Nurock Volumetric Concrete Mixers (VCM). Work ranged from feasibility studies for London Underground and coloured walls for French museums to refurbishing Army construction equipment and building rail‑mounted volumetric mixers. In 2018, the Government (without any debate in Parliament) slashed the weight VCMs could operate at, cutting payload from typically 42 tonnes to 32 tonnes on new equipment and 38.4 tonnes for a limited time for those with effective grandfather rights (VSO). The new restrictions hit the bespoke VCM mixer market hard. Cubic3’s product was proudly well engineered and built for long life, and with the total market in VCM trucks sold dropping by around 80% in 2019, the company ended manufacturing of its volumetric mixers. In 2015, Cubic3 became a distributor for concrete pumps made by KCP Heavy Industries Co Ltd (based in South Korea), which had no presence in the UK/EU at that time. Cubic3 worked with KCP to adapt their concrete pumps for European norms and vehicles, make initial sales and achieve a successful launch in the UK/EU.
