CU River Mining Australia Pty Ltd is a privately owned company and one of only two iron ore producers in South Australia. The company was founded in 2014 and purchased the Cairn Hill iron ore project in the South Australian outback near Coober Pedy the same year. It is now a major employer in the district and a successful producer and exporter with exciting plans for the future. CU River Mining Australia Pty Ltd was founded in 2014 and its founder and sole shareholder is a Chinese businessman, who has more than 20 years of mineral processing experience in south east Asia. The company purchased the Cairn Hill Project in 2014 and currently is holding one mining lease and seven exploration licenses, all in South Australia. After an extensive $20 million upgrading of the Cairn Hill project, CU River commenced iron ore exports in June 2016, joining South Australia’s elite group of magnetite producers and exporters. CU River Mining Australia has an experienced board and management team with specific skills in exploration, mining and processing plant development. The company regards South Australia as a suitable state to develop further magnetite iron ore projects as more than 90% of the State’s iron ore is magnetite located in defined, prospective areas.
