Our business is in lines and pipes, the vital infrastructure that connects homes and businesses with the electricity and gas they need. Powerco is New Zealand’s largest electricity distributor in terms of network length (27,900km) and has the second largest number of electricity connections (336,000). The company also has the second largest gas distribution network (5815km) and the largest number of gas connections (106,000). It is one of only two dual-energy distributors in the country. We have around 430 (full-time equivalent) employees across branches in New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington and Tauranga.

NIWA, National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research "Enhancing the benefits of New Zealand's natural resources" NIWA - with its global reputation for excellence in water and atmospheric research - is one of New Zealand's seven Crown Research Institutes, organisations tasked with carrying out scientific research for the benefit of New Zealand. Additionally, we work with research providers, commercial clients and other end-users to contribute to the development of the following areas: • biosecurity, freshwater and hazards management • climate change adaptation and mitigation • ocean floor exploration • seafood sector • urban environments • Antarctica.
